LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Seeing siblings on the same basketball team isn’t unusual. Seeing four sisters share the same court is. At Whitefield Academy, the Ring sisters — Riley, Emery, Hadley, and Ainsley — are doing something rare: playing together on the same team, turning years of backyard games into real-game chemistry.

“It’s really special because my whole life I’ve grown up playing ball in the driveway, at the park,” said senior Riley Ring. “So it’s cool seeing the chemistry translate onto the court. And it’s definitely a lot more fun — less lonely — having all my family out here every game.”

That built-in connection shows up in the way they play.

“I feel like it translates a lot,” sophomore Emery Ring said. “And then we just work really well together… we’ve been playing together for so long.”

For the younger sisters, the experience is about more than basketball — it’s about comfort, confidence, and closeness.

“I think it’s just a good experience,” said 7th grader Hadley Ring. “It helps us grow closer together . . .   It’s more comfortable talking with each other than talking with other people.”

Her twin sister, Ainsley, agreed.

“Oh, I think it’s fun,” Ainsley said. “Because we feel more comfortable together and we just have a really good connection.”

Watching it all unfold from the sideline is their father, Blake Ring, an assistant coach for the team. He says the moment still feels unlikely — even after seeing it happen.

“The idea of just having four daughters on the same team . . .  that’s just such a unique opportunity,” Blake Ring said. “You never think of when your daughters are five years apart, they might end up being on the same team, but that’s how everything came into alignment. It’s been a real blessing. It’s been a lot of fun.”

And the family story doesn’t stop with the Rings.

The Ring sisters are also teammates with another sibling duo: Madelin and Taylor Turner, adding yet another layer of familiarity and teamwork to the roster.

“It’s pretty cool. We’ve never had a situation like this before,” said senior Madelin Turner. “So it’s been really cool because we know how each other play, and so it’s cool to feed off of that.”

Freshman Taylor Turner says the season has strengthened their bond, too.

“It’s really fun that we get to grow closer to each other and become better friends over this,” she said.

At Whitefield Academy, the scoreboard matters, but so does the connection.

And with sisters and siblings sharing the floor, this team is proving that chemistry isn’t just coached — sometimes, it’s built at home.
