 CHBC, Windsor/Stew-Stras Win at St. Elmo/Brownstown Tourney, Conrad Allen Tourney Scores

ST. ELMO — Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg  were winners in the St. Elmo/Brownstown Boys Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.

In the first game of the evening, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City downed Mulberry Grove by a 67-41 score.

The Bobcats moved into a 14-4 opening quarter lead. Remington Howell hit a regular basket and a three-pointer for five while Hayden Sarver put in a three-pointer.

Then CHBC went through a free throw barrage during the second and third quarters. Howell hit seven of nine while Griffin Vaughn connected on seven of seven.

The Bobcats finished with 19 of 25 from the line.

Howell led four players in double figures with 18 on five field goals and seven of nine at the line. G. Vaughn added 17 on five field goals and seven of seven at the line. Sarver and Schlanser tallied 11 each.

CHBC advances to face either Ramsey or Patoka/Odin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday for the consolation championship. Those two teams play tonight at 6:15.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg then handed Hillsboro a 67-59 loss.

The Hatchets moved into a 21-15 opening quarter lead.  Tyler Vonderheide hit three baskets and a free throw for seven points while Brody Bible put in a three and a two for five.

The Hatchets had a 19-12 second period to lead 40-27 at halftime. Wyatt Wetherell hit a three in the opening quarter then nailed two more along with a regular basket and two free throws for 10 in the period.

Wetherell came back with two more three-pointers in the third quarter and finished with six for the contest to lead the winners with 27 points. He hit one two-pointer and was seven of eight at the line.

Also in double figures for the Hatchets were Bible with 15 and Vonderheide with 13.

Windsor/Stew-Stras moved into the championship game and will meet either Cumberland or St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7:30 p.m. for the championship Saturday. Cumberland and St. Elmo/Brownstown meet tonight at 7:45. Hillsboro dropped into the third place game  Saturday at 6 p.m.

At Wayne City

Webber Township defeated Grayville 72-26 in the first game Thursday evening at the 71st Annual Conrad Allen Tournament.

In the second game, Thompsonville won over Cisne, 66-62.

Tonight’s games feature Edwards County against North Clay at 6 p.m. followed by Wayne City taking on Webber Township at 7:30.

The finals are scheduled for Saturday. Grayville meets Cisne at 2:30 p.m. for seventh place while Crab Orchard and Thompsonville meet at 4 p.m. for fifth place.

The third place game is scheduled for 5:30 with the championship at 7.
