Effingham St. Anthony played host to Newton and swept the Eagles in varsity, junior varsity and freshman/sophomore boys basketball action Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs claimed the varsity contest 40-34.
Newton edged into a 13-11 opening quarter lead as Lance Volk connected for five points and Drake Wolf four.
St. Anthony had a 4-3 edge in the second quarter and trailed 16-15 at halftime.
But the Bulldogs got going in the second half with an 11-8 third period run as Miles Waldhoff connected for five points and Gabe Looman four. St. Anthony led 16-15.
In the final quarter, the Bulldogs continued on with a 14-8 run. Aiden Lauritzen scored four to lead the way in the run.
Waldhoff and Gannaway had eight points each for the Bulldogs as eight players scored.
Newton was led by Jacob Oldham with nine.
In the junior varsity contest, St. Anthony won 69-29. Four players hit double figures. Blake Verdeyen led withi 15 while Will Vonderheide added 13, Cooper Sehy 12 and Jonny Gannaway 10.
Newton was led by Chance Mulvey with six.
St. Anthony won the freshman/sophomore contest 43-24. Curtis Tingley led with 14 and Camden Bloemer 11.
Newton was led by Emmerich with nine.

At Carlyle
Altamont was a winner over Carlyle in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening.
The Indians edged out to an 11-10 opening quarter lead. Cooper McManaway hit a three-pointer and Kade Milleville put in three of four free throws.
In the second period, Altamont moved the lead to 21-17. McManaway put in another three-pointer.
The lead went to 31-23 in the third period and the Indians finished out strong from the free throw line in the final quarter. Parker Bell hit five of six from the line while Zaine Miller put in three of three and K. Milleville two of four.
Altamont was led by four players in double figures. K. Milleville led the way with five field goals and five of nine at the line for 15. Bell added 11 and McManaway and Jacob Johnson had 10 each.

Lawrenceville played host to Dieterich and sent the Movin’ Maroons home with a 49-34 loss Tuesday evening.
Lawrenceville edged into a 12-11 opening quarter lead then pushed that lead to 22-16 at halftime.
The Indians had a 13-7 third quarter and finished out out with a 14-11 final period run.
Dieterich was led by Brock Niemerg with 11 points on four field goals that included three from beyond the arc.

Casey-Westfield took the early lead and never looked back in a 59-43 victory over Neoga Tuesday evening.
The Warriors edged ahead 7-4 in the opening quarter and then went on a 19-7 second period run to lead 26-11 at halftime.
Casey-Westfield came back in the third quarter with a 16-7 run.
The Warriors were led by Jones with 22 points, High with 13 and Julius with 12.
Neoga was led by Malik Coy with 20 points on five field goals, four from three-point range, and six of eight at the line and Brayden Ray with eight field goals and three of four at the line for 19.
