The Effingham Rotary community is growing with the addition of a brand-new group: the Rotary Companion Club “Good Spirits.” Created to meet the evolving needs of the community and today’s busy professionals, “Good Spirits” offers a flexible, social, and service-focused approach to Rotary membership.
Rotary clubs across the country have faced two common challenges in recent years — declining membership and a need for more hands-on service opportunities. The “Good Spirits” model aims to address both by providing an evening meeting option designed for those who want to serve but may not be able to attend traditional daytime meetings. Effingham already proudly supports both a Sunrise Rotary and a Noon Rotary club. This new group, officially chartered on October 8, 2025, held its first meeting on November 11, 2025, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for local Rotarians.
Unlike a satellite club, “Good Spirits” serves as a branch of both the Noon and Sunrise Clubs, bridging generations of members and encouraging collaboration across all three groups. The club currently includes 13 official members, ages 21–41, and plans to host one meeting and one service project each month as it builds momentum. For now, “Good Spirits” meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Wheat Penny — a fitting spot for fellowship, fresh ideas, and community impact.
