 EHS Wins Over Vienna In Boys High School Basketball, Bockhorn Named MVP

MARION — Effingham High School handed Vienna a 66-53 loss in boys basketball action Saturday.

The Hearts edged out to a 15-14 opening quarter lead as Cole Phillips tallied nine points on two three-pointers, a regular basket and a free throw. Jenner Pals and Jude Traub added a three-pointer each.

The Hearts moved ahead 31-21 at halftime. Cannon Bockhorn took over the scoring with two three-pointers and two free throws for eight in the period.

In the third quarter, Bockhorn connected on two more three-pointers while Pals scored nine points in the period.

Bockhorn added on another three-pointer in the final period and finished with 17 points to lead the Hearts. He connected on five baskets, all from three-point range. Also in double figures were Pals with 15 and Cole Phillips with 13.

Bockhorn earned Most Valuable Player of the game.
