TEUTOPOLIS — Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis split junior high boys basketball wins Monday evening.

St. Anthony claimed the seventh-grade matchup by a 47-42 count. The Bullpups ran out to a 16-8 opening quarter lead then held off the Shoes.

Niebrugge scored nine and Dust eight for the winners. The Bullpups are unbeaten at 7-0.

T-town was led by Bryson Meyer with 19 points and Dillon Deters with nine.

In eighth-grade action, three players hit double digits for the Shoes as they claimed a 56-28 win.

Owen Wermert scored 12 points while Mason Giles added 11 and Kason Meyer 10.

St. Anthony was led by Schumacher with 10. The Bullpups dropped to 5-2.

At Teutopolis

North Clay came calling and split victories with Effingham Sacred Heart Monday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade contest, 45-20. North Clay held a 19-14 halftime lead then had a 26-6 second half.

Boose tallied 11 for the winners.

Sacred Heart was led by Teddy Jansen with 14.

In the eighth-grade game, Sacred Heart was a 50-10 winner. No other statistics listed.

At Effingham

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City played host to Windsor and claimed both victories Monday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade game 28-18. Tyce Kircher led the scoring with eight points while Elliot Thull added seven and Colt Ondes six.

Windsor was led by King with eight.

In eighth-grade play, CHBC won easily 51-13.

Brody Cox scored 18 while Lane Reed and Drake Thull tallied 10 each.

Windsor was led by Montgomery with eight.

Stewardson-Strasburg was a winner in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday evening over Okaw Valley.

Stew-Stras led 13-8 at halftime and had a 20-12 second half in seventh-grade play for a 33-20 victory.

Ashmore scored 11 and Rahn 10 for the winners who are now 2-3 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, Stew-Stras won 41-19. The winners led 27-5 at halftime.

Pruemer scored 11 to lead as the eighth-graders improved to 7-0.

At Strasburg

At Hutsonville

Jasper County and Palestine/Hutsonville split victories in Monday evening play.

With a 27-3 halftime lead, Jasper County tallied a 48-12 win over Palestine/Hutsonville in the seventh-grade contest.

Duncan Miller led in scoring with 12 points while Tristian Lingafelter added 11. Miller was the top rebounder, Kamden Klier the top defender and Cash Collins the top passer. Jasper County is 3-3.

In eighth-grade action, Palestine/Hutsonville was a 31-28 winner in overtime. Jasper County held a one point lead at hafltime but Palestine/Hutsonville came back with a 7-4 third quarter and sent the contest into overtime.

In the overtime period, P/H had a 5-2 run for the win.

Jasper County was led by Jacob Guzman with 16 points. Alex Keller was the top rebounder and top defender and Grant Frichtl was the top passer. Jasper County dropped to 4-2.

At Hutsonville

At Casey

Dieterich and Casey-Westfield each picked up a victory in Monday evening action.

Dieterich was a 36-33 winner in the seventh-grade game. The score was knotted at 9-9 in the first quarter before Dieterich edged ahead 13-12 at halftime.

Dieterich then had a 25-21 second half run. Chase Bohnhoff tallied 14 of Dieterich’s 18 points in the third quarter hitting four three-pointers and was two of two at the line.

Bohnhoff finished with 20 points to lead Dieterich.

In the eighth-grade game, Casey-Westfield pushed into a 23-14 halftime lead and held Dieterich scoreless in the third quarter to go on for a 38-28 victory.

Dieterich’s Brummer led the way with 13 points, scoring nine in the final quarter.
