SIGEL — Effingham St. Anthony claimed two junior high boys basketball wins over Sigel St. Michael Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade game, the Bullpups were 44-23 winners. St. Anthony held a 23-6 halftime lead and never looked back.

Nash Hoene was the lone Bullpups player in double figures with 10 as 11 players scored in the contest. St. Anthony is unbeaten at 4-0.

St. Michael was led by Oliver Deters with 17 points, 11 of those coming in the final period.

In eighth-grade play, St. Anthony moved into a 21-12 halftime lead and scored a 38-27 win over the Sharpshooters.

St. Anthony was led by P. Phillips with 13 points.

St. Michael was led by Ben Walk, also with 13 points.

At Dieterich

Dieterich and Jasper County each picked up a victory Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Dieterich was a 39-22 winner. The Roadrunners moved into a 10-5 opening quarter lead and led 21-8 at halftime.

Chase Bohnhoff led the way in scoring for the winners with 14 points while Colten Keck added nine.

Jasper County (2-3) was led by Cash Collins with nine points and was the top defender. Rafe Thomann was the top rebounder and Kamden Klier the top passer.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County ran out to a 17-2 opening quarter lead and went on for a 43-26 victory.

Jacob Guzman scored 14 and Grant Frichtl 11 for the winners. Trace Cornwell was the top rebounder, top defender and top passer. Jasper County improved to 4-1.

Dieterich was led by Brody Niemerg with eight points.

At Newton

Stewardson-Strasburg and Newton St. Thomas split victories Monday evening.

St. Thomas was a 28-14 winner in the seventh-grade game. St. Thomas held a 10-4 halftime lead and had an 11-3 third quarter run.

St.Thomas was led by Bierman with nine points.

Stew-Stras was led by Rahn with eight points. Stew-Stras fell to 1-2 on the season.

In eighth-grade action, Stew-Stras improved to 3-0 on the season with a 47-14 victory.

Stew-Stras ran out to a 15-2 opening quarter lead and led 31-6 at halftime.

Friese led with 11 points while Richter added 10 as nine players scored in the game. Stew-Stras remained unbeaten with a 3-0 record and is back in action Thursday hosting Sullivan at 6 p.m.

St. Thomas was led by Gier with eight.

Altamont Lutheran came calling and claimed both victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday evening.

Altamont Lutheran was a 35-15 winner in seventh-grade play, taking an 18-8 first half lead and outscoring the Bobcats 17-7 in the second half.

Kroening led the winners with eight points while Sefton and Koester added seven each.

CHBC was led by Tyce Kircher and Elliot Thull with five each.

In the eighth-grade contest, Altamont Lutheran edged CHBC, 25-22.

Altamont moved into an 8-5 opening quarter lead and held that three-point lead to the end of the contest.

Schnarre scored eight for the winners.

CHBC was led by Drake Thull with 16.

At Cowden

Teutopolis went on a scoring binge in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday evening to hand Flora decisive losses.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest 50-16. The Shoes held a 27-9 halftime lead and had a 17-5 third quarter.

Deters led the way with 15 points while Meyer added 14 for the Shoes.

In eighth-grade action, T-town ran out to a 32-12 halftime lead and finished with a 60-30 victory.

Giles scored 16 for the winners while Althoff added nine.

Altamont was a 26-21 winner. Altamont ran out to a 14-7 first half lead.

The winners were led by Weston Nelson with 17 points.
