Plenty of research and plenty of volunteer assistance means that the Meals on Wheels program will resume on Wednesday.
Amy Ellis, who heads up Meals on Wheels for CEFS, said many volunteers are making the resumption of services possible. The resumption comes just two days after fire shut down Deb’s Catering in Altamont.
However, several businesses have stepped up to help, at least until Deb’s has a plan to resume operations.
Ellis said businesses that are helping include Niemerg’s Steak House, Kirby Foods, Kountry Kitchen, Small Town Treats, Mark’s Cafe in Brownstown, and Pit Stop in Beecher City. Ellis said they are still working on a site in Clay County.
Meanwhile, the State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with Altamont firefighters to determine the cause of the fire. Altamont Fire Chief Jon Becker said the area of origin turned out to be where they suspected…the southeast corner of the garage by the storage area at Deb’s. Becker said the staff at Deb’s will continue to work with the fire marshal’s office to determine the cause of the fire.
