 Teutopolis Downs Dieterich, CHBC, WSS, Neoga, North Clay Nab High School Baseball Victories

TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School scored early and quickly for a 12-2 win over Dieterich in six innings of baseball action Monday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.

With two outs in the top of the first inning, T-town’s Jason Kreke was hit by a pitch. Austin Borries and Nolen Schumacher drew back-to-back walks. Eric Weidner hit a single that scored two runs.

Bryce Bohnhoff doubled for the Maroons but was left stranded.

The Wooden Shoes added two more runs in the second inning. With one out, Teagan Pals singled but was thrown out by Dieterich catcher Gavin Meinhart.

Davin Worman then drew a walk. Niemerg followed with a double and Kreke singled home both runners. Kreke was taken out by Dieterich’s Meinhart on another steal attempt.

The lead went to 6-0 in the top of the third. With one out, Nolan Schumacher singled and Eric Weidner followed with a double. A ball hit by Kendall Mette was an out but a run scored. Gavin Addis then brought the second run home on a single.

Dieterich was set down in order in the bottom of the frame.

In the fourth, T-town’s Niemerg singled and Kreke drew a walk to start the frame. Both runners came home on a triple by Borries. Nolan Schumacher followed with a single that scored Borries and the Shoes led 9-0.

In the bottom of the frame, Dieterich got on track with two runs. Gavin Meinhart drew a walk to open the inning. With one out, Jackson Icenogle singled. The runners were sacrificed over by Dominic Ashley. Meinhart scored on an error. Mason Lidy followed with a double and the Maroons were within 9-2.

But here came T-town again in the fifth. Addis drew a walk, stole second and went to third on an error. Worman and Niemerg drew back-to-back walks. A sacrifice fly by Kreke scored a run and Borries followed with a single scoring a second run and the Shoes were up 10-2.

With one out in the fifth, Justin Boerngen singled but was taken out by catcher Kreke.

The Shoes scored their final run in the sixth. Weidner drew a walk and Kendall Mette followed with a double. A sacrifice fly by Addis scored the run.

Dieterich had one last chance but could only put one runner on base in the sixth as Andrew Hall singled and stole second.

Schumacher was the winning pitcher and improved to 3-0 on the season. He went five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, one walk while striking out three.

Teutopolis improved to 19-1 on the season while Dieterich dropped to 8-9.

The Wooden Shoes are back in action Wednesday at Neoga in a 4 p.m. contest. Dieterich returns to action today playing host to St. Anthony.

At St. Elmo

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came calling and went home with a 7-5 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

Both teams tallied a single run in the third. BSE then broke free with a four-run fourth. That’s where the scoring stood until the sixth when the Bobcats came back with six runs to finish out for the victory.

Jonah Hardimon led the Bobcats with a single, double and an RBI. Casey Macklin and Cayden Ondes added a single and an RBI each.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Logan Lach with a double and an RBI and Calvin Voelker with two singles and an RBI.

BSE dropped to 5-11 on the season and is back in action today against Ramsey/Mulberry Grove.

At Kinmundy

The South Central Cougars got on board first but couldn’t hang on to the lead as they fell 2-1 to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in 10 innings Monday.

The Cougars scored in the bottom of the second inning when Isaac Guerrattaz led off with a walk and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. A passed ball allowed Guerrattaz to score.

That score held up until the top of the sixth when Windsor/Stew-Stras tied the game on an RBI double. The game remained tied until the top ofo the fifth inning when once again a double gave the Hatchets the lead.

South Central was set down in order, falling in 10 innings and dropped its record to 6-12 on the fall season. The Cougars will be back in action today in their final National Trail Conference matchup against North Clay.

At Woodlawn

Neoga traveled to Woodlawn and unleashed the bats to finish with a 13-5 victory in six innings Monday.

Neoga edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then tacked on three runs in the second. The Indians held a 9-3 lead in the fourth then pushed across four more runs in the fifth and the game ended in the sixth.

The Indians found the range with 16 hits led by Malik Coy with four singles and two RBI while Evan Fearday added two singles and three RBI and Jack Finney three singles and two RBI. Braylon Sparrow added a single, double and an RBI, Garrett Ballinger a single and double. Noah Platz added two singles while Cayden Hakman finished with a single and an RBI and Grady Haarman an RBI.

At Woodlawn
