110th District State Representative Blaine Wilhour will be running for re-election next year.
Wilhour made the announcement while participating in the Marion County Republican Party’s petition signing event in Salem Wednesday afternoon.
“There’s a lot of work to be done down here, and the fight in Springfield is still going on,” Wilhour said. “The radical left is still pushing, pushing, pushing, and we need strong leaders to push back. I said in 2018 when I ran, we’d give this thing ten years max. This should be the final time doing it, then we’ll do what we’re supposed to do: go back to living and turn it over to somebody else.”
Wilhour says being in the Super Minority keeps him from moving a lot of legislation, but he feels there have been accomplishments.
“I think we’ve done a pretty darn good job of raising awareness of the things that are going on,” Wilhour said. “That’s where change starts. People get informed, get engaged, get involved. We’ve seen especially down here in Marion County, there’s so many new people that are stepping up and getting involved. I think that’s the first step to righting things, is figuring out where the problems are and making sure people know about them.”
Wilhour says one of his biggest accomplishments is working to overturn and limit the Governor’s action to shutdown businesses during COVID-19.
Wilhour is the first announced candidate for the office.
