Seniors Joey Probst and Landyn Buening both ended the night completing a hat trick with three goals each. Junior Simon Lee was close behind scoring the other two goals.
“Tonight’s win was definitely a team effort with all goals except one assisted,” said T-town Coach Aaron Wendt. “Assists were given by Joey Probst with two, Isaac McWhorter, Landyn Buening, Simon Lee, Gavin Buening and Gavin Pals with one each.
“Jake Kocher added another clean sheet.”
The varsity Shoes are now 8-1-2 on the season.

Both squads return to the home pitch Thursday for a rival match against St. Anthony. Varsity starts at 4:30 p.m. with the junior varsity after that contest.
At Effingham
Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 4-1 victory over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Tuesday.
“I’m very proud of the way we worked together and came back after being down,” said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes.
In the first half, ALAH scored 13 minutes into the game.
“We didn’t lose our fight,” said Coach Reyes. “Less than a minute later, Noah Jansen sent a ball to Michael Wright who shot it into the net for our first goal. At the 26 minute mark, we got a corner as Alex Koester headed it in after a rebound putting us up 2-1.
“In the second half, Jansen scored twice from two of Wright’s assists 12 minutes into the half and at the 39 minute mark.
“Joey LaSarge played great a goalkeeper and the defensive line of Jackson Schultz, Ronan Bailey, Issac Fallert and Ike Daiber played great together. Alex Koester was the player of the match.”
In the junior varsity game, St. Anthony won 2-1 after being down by a goal. LaSarge scored both goals.
“It was a great team effort and Devin Grubb had many great saves,” said Coach Reyes.
Next up for the Bulldogs is at Teutopolis Thursday.
At Newton
Tuesday night, Effingham defeated Newton by a 6-2 count. Coming into the game, Newton was ranked No. 6 in Illinois 1A with EHS ranked #14.
“Despite the rankings, we played a strong team game that showed what this team can do,” said Coach Logan Arney.
Maicol Sefton ended with four goals and one assist. Rece Kinney and Luis Gonzalez both ended with one goal and one assist. Jacob Warner and Connor Delong provided one assist each.
“Brady Wilson had five great saves,” said Coach Arney. “Brady only let one goal in during open play as one of the goals went in on an unfortunate penalty kick. Beyond the stats, Will Hagerstrom had a strong defensive performance with a lot of good tackles and control in the backline.”
EHS will be back in competition Thursday as the Hearts travel to Charleston. The next home game is against another Apollo Conference team in Taylorville Saturday at 11 a.m.
