GREENVILLE — Effingham moved into a 1-0 opening inning lead and went on for a 3-1 victory over Greenville in junior high baseball Tuesday.
The Mustangs finished with four hits and two errors while Greenville had six hits and one error.
Roman Martin had a double while Peyton O’Dell had two singles and an RBI for the Mustangs. Brody Nelson added an RBI.
Deek Thompson went four innings for the pitching win. He allowed one run on four hits, four walks while stirking out eight.

At Newton
Both teams were strong on the bump Tuesday but Teutopolis edged Charleston, 2-1.
The Trojans moved into a 1-0 lead in the top of the third as the run scored on a balk. But the Shoes jumped into the lead with two runs in the bottom of the frame. Louie Niebrugge grounded into a double play and the Trojans commtited an error, each scoring one run.
Pals earned the win for the Shoes. The hurler surrenderd two hits and one run over four innings. He struck out eight and did not issue a walk.
Mason Giles led the Shoes with two singles in two at-bats.
Next up for the Shoes is a game against Franklin Park Thursday.

Gabe Traub had a perfect day at the plate, going four-for-four to lead Sacred Heart over South Central, 5-3 Tuesday.
Traub finished with two singles, two doubles and two RBI. He also scored two runs. Chris Kenter was two-for-four with a single, triple and scored two runs. Jackson LaSarge had two singles and a run scored.
The Falcons battled back with runs from Dexter Lotz, Leighton Sporleder and Ben Skibinski but Sacred Heart’s pitching held strong down the stretch.
Traub picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight over 3 2/3 hitless innings and did not allow a walk.

Stewardson-Strasburg traveled to Brownstown/St. Elmo where they beat the homestanders 21-0.
It was a close game going into the fifth inning, then the Comets exploded for 18 runs.
Jacob Duncan had a big day at the plate with two singles, a home run and four RBI. Adam Pruemer had three singles and three RBI. Jacob Howe had two singles and two RBI while Tate Thompson had a double and two RBI. Jacob Howe added two singles and two RBI. Max McCormick finished with a double and an RBI.
Johnny Richter was the winning pitcher. He went four innings, allowing one hit, four walks and striking out 10.
Brownstown/St. Elmo’s Lucas Miller had the only hit, a single.

Paxton Coulter went three innings, giving up one hit, no walks and striking out four.

Altamont Lutheran edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead but Dieterich came back to move ahead 6-4 after six innings.
Then it was Altamont Lutheran’s turn, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 7-6 victory.
The winners had nine hits.
Dieterich had seven hits led by Nolan Nussmeyer with a double and an RBI, Chase Bohnhoff with three singles, Landon McQueen with two singles and Reed Funneman with an RBI.

Neoga held a 5-2 lead after three innings but Sigel St. Michael came roaring back, scoring four runs in the fourth and four in the sixth for a 10-6 victory Tuesday.

B. Walk picked up the pitching win. He went five innings, giving up six runs on three hits, four walks and striking out seven.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City piled up 15 hits and handed Ramsey a 23-11 loss Tuesday.
Ramsey moved into an 8-5 opening inning lead. But the Bobcats came back with a 10-run second and never looked back.
Curtis Bethel finished with a single, double and 3 RBI while Luke Roadarmel had two singles and three RBI. Brody Cox had four singles and two RBI and Ben Noble two singles and two RBI. Remington Strange, Elliot Thull and Hank Shields had a single and two RBI each and Conor Jones added a single and an RBI.
CHBC used four pitchers. Roadarmel went two innings for the win, allowing six runs on one hit, two walks and striking out three.

Paris Crestwood came calling and claimed a 7-5 win over Cumberland Tuesday.
The two teams played to a 1-1 opening inning tie. Crestwood edged ahead with a run in the fourth then tallied four in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Cumberland made a comeback bid in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs only to fall short.
Cumberland outhit Crestwood by a 10-6 count. The Raiders were led by B. Clapp with four singles, J. Herrick with a single, double and an RBI, A. Dittamore with two singles and two RBI and H. Cisney with two singles.
Clapp went five innings for the loss on the mound.
