Teutopolis had Effingham St. Anthony’s number Monday in junior high softball and handed the Bulldogs a 17-8 loss.

The two teams tied at 1-1 in the opening inning. T-town then moved into a 3-1 lead in the third and held an 8-1 lead in the top of the fourth. But St. Anthony came back with six runs in the fourth and tied the score in the fifth.

T-town then went on a run in the sixth scoring eight runs and never looked back.

The Shoes had eight hits compared to 13 for the Bullpups. Emma Wells had two singles while Addisyn Meyer and Emily Murray had a single and two RBI each. JoJo Schmidt finished with two RBI while Kennedi Hartke and Sophia Grunloh had a single and an RBI each.

St. Anthony had five more hits than T-town but finished with nine errors.

Leading the Bullpups were Lily Bloemer with two singles, a double and two RBI, Elle Bierman with a single and triple, Morgan Lustig with two singles and two RBI, Isabelle McDonald a double and an RBI and Mary Hoke had two singles. AnnaMae Scheidemantel added a single and an RBI.

Payton Ruholl went 5.2 innings for the win on the mound. She gave up one run on six hits, three walks while striking out 10.

At Effingham

Effingham ran out to a 9-0 opening inning lead and ended this game in the third inning by a 15-0 count over Salem Franklin Park Monday.

The Mustangs’ Kendyl Smith threw two innings of one hit ball, not allowing a walk and striking out five. Sophia Wiedman came in to throw the final inning and did not give up a hit or walk and struck out two.

Meanwhile, it was long ball for the Mustangs. Anna Gouchenouer hit a double, home run and finished with five RBI. Cloie Bailey had a home run and two RBI and Madalyn Hoffman had two doubles and two RBI. Mackynzie Hites added a single and an RBI.

Effingham is now 8-0 on the season.

At Altamont

South Central finished with 15 hits and tallied a 12-5 victory over Altamont Monday.

The Falcons edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then had a four-run second, a three-run fourth and went on for the 12-5 victory.

Skylar Webster finished with five of the 15 hits. She had four singles, a triple and drove in a run. Claire Chasteen added a single, double and an RBI. Alexa Gile finished with three singles and two RBI while Rylan Williams had three singles and two RBI. Bella McDowell added a single and two RBI.

Williams was the winning pitcher going five innings, giving up two runs on two hits, six walks and striking out nine.

Altamont was led by Blaire Suckow with a double and Teegan Burrus with two singles and an RBI. Mary Tappendorf added a single and an RBI.

Sigel St. Michael scored two runs in the top of the seventh to pull out a 6-5 victory over St. Elmo/Brownstown Monday.

St. Elmo/Brownstown moved into a 2-0 lead in the second inning. The Eagles then led 5-1 after four.

But here came the Sharpshooters, scoring three in the sixth then finishing off with two in the seventh.

SEB was led by Parker Haslett with a single, triple and an RBI and Zoey Zerrusen with a single and an RBI.

At St. Elmo

Neoga struck early, taking a 3-1 opening inning lead and went on for a 4-2 win over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Monday.

Neoga finished with five hits led by Bliss Bear and Mackie White with two singles and an RBI each. Kyndall Mars added an RBI.

Bear was the winning pitcher. She went all seven innings, giving up two runs on three hits, four walks and striking out nine.

Vandalia came calling and went home with a 20-3 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in four innings Monday.

Vandalia held a 3-0 opening inning lead and moved that to 4-0 in the top of the second. But CHBC came back with three runs in the bottom of the frame to pull within one. Vandalia took off with a nine-run third and a seven-run fourth.

Vandalia had 16 hits and was aided by five CHBC errors.

The Bobcats were led in hitting by Anna Hart and Hadley Pope with two singles and an RBI each.
