Altamont Superintendent Casey Adam spoke to the City Council about an intergovernmental agreement for improvements to the Altamont Community High School parking lot.
Adam spoke about extending drainage tiles west out of the parking lot to Ewing Street in hopes of eliminating ponding water. Council members would like additional information on the project so the school district engineers plan to attend the next City Council.
The Council agreed to contribute $8,000 to pay for an asbestos inspection. The Schultzes are taking down a house at 1780 800th Avenue, but since the project is in a commercial area, the asbestos inspection is required. The Council agreed to pay for the inspection.
A $30,631.34 payment was made for insurance costs; a permit was approved for a controlled burn by the Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion post for proper disposal of flags on October 17 with the public welcome to take flags to the Municipal Building; and approval was given for a roadside fundraiser for a Knights of Columbus tootsie roll drive on September 19.
