Effingham Public Library Board members heard this week about plans for the library’s anniversary celebration.
The ribbon cutting and anniversary celebration will take place the morning of August 22 at 10:30am.
Among the reasons to celebrate…the library is turning 142 years old…the expansion of the Children’s Room will be completed…and September 15th will mark the 10th year of the library at their location on North 3rd Street in the downtown area.
Library Director Amanda McKay said the Summer Reading Program is nearing the end. Signups are done, and the pool party who completed 75% of the goal is tonight. Children have completed 80% of the goal.
With the mortgage on the library building able to be paid off this fall, board members are beginning to discuss the possibility of a Capital Improvement Plan, so will be deciding what projects should be pursued. The debt should be retired at the beginning of September.
