Effingham County 911 board members heard the latest on a retrofit of the county PSAP at this month’s meeting.
911 System Administrator Tina Daniels reported that new furniture has been installed at the PSAP, and that new hardware is being installed. Also, radio equipment is being re-installed. This was the first new furniture at the PSAP since 911 went online in Effingham County in the 1990s.
After a review of options from County Treasurer Deb Ruholl, the Board voted to take out a 12-month CD from Land of Lincoln at 4.32% APY for $263,867.03.
The Board heard that Global Technical Systems has completed their work on the transmitter tower outside the County Office Building. The Board now has plans to have the tower re-painted.
There was also discussion over acquiring a Rapid Warn Automated Tornado Siren Activation System. The system would set off sirens, not the 911 dispatchers. The cost would be just under $23,000. The issue will be discussed further at the 911 Board’s July meeting.
Board members also recognized David Budde and Jason McFarland, who are retiring from the Board.
