Sarah Bush Lincoln recently received Certificate of Need (CON) approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to construct the SBL Effingham Specialty Pavilion, a new two-story, 39,946-square-foot medical office building located across from the SBL Effingham Clinic at 905 N. Maple St.

The $28 million facility is designed to consolidate specialty services currently spread across multiple locations in Effingham and to meet the growing demand for specialty care. As patient volumes increase and space limitations persist, the new Specialty Pavilion will improve access, enhance care coordination and create a more efficient and convenient experience for patients and providers alike.

“We’re incredibly excited to move forward with this important project,” Sarah Bush Lincoln President and CEO Kim Uphoff said. “Our goal is to provide a home for our specialty care teams
so we can better serve the people of Effingham and the surrounding area.  This investment reflects our continued commitment to delivering skilled, compassionate care in the communities we serve.”

The Specialty Pavilion will house a wide range of services, featuring expanded cardiology services, including stress testing, cardiac nuclear medicine, echocardiography, pulmonary function testing and a dedicated cardiac rehabilitation gym. It will also include ear, nose and throat care with onsite audiology testing and hearing aid fittings.  The building will also feature a drive-thru retail pharmacy for convenient medication pick-up, onsite laboratory services for timely diagnostics and additional space for specialist providers.  The Effingham Specialty Pavilion is expected to improve provider availability and allow for expanded scheduling to better meet the needs of patients throughout the region.

Construction is expected to begin this summer, with the facility projected to open near the end of 2026.
