Effingham High School was on a hitting barrage Tuesday as the the Hearts pounded Centralia, 14-2 in five softball innings.

The Hearts finished with 19 hits in the contest. Mya Harvey had a single, double, home run and drove in two while Raegan Boone had a single, double, triple and an RBI. Riley Cunningham and Sidney Donaldson finished with a single, double and three RBI each. Jerzi Bierman had a single, double and an RBI. Jennifer Jamison added a double and two RBI while Bria Beals had two singles.

EHS stepped out to a 3-1 first inning lead and ended the contest in five innings.

Natalie Armstrong went the distance on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits, no walks and striking out three.

At Dieterich

Dieterich took the early lead but Clay City/North Clay came on to hand the Movin' Maroons a 9-3 loss Tuesday.

The Maroons held a 2-1 lead after the first inning and held that until CC/NC tied in the third then moved ahead with three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth.

The winners had nine hits in the contest led by Morgan Hance and Faith Jones with two singles each. Jones had two RBI while Hance had one.

Hance picked up the win on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing two hits and striking out 15.

Dieterich was led by Ella Kreke and Callie Faller with a single each.

At Beecher City

South Central blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by an 8-0 count Tuesday.

Taegan Webster threw a one-hitter while walking only one and striking out 14.

South Central had 10 hits led by Webster with a single, double and an RBI, Jaylyn Michel with a single and double, Kaitlyn Swift with two singles, a double and two RBI and Abi Shuler with two singles and three RBI.

South Central improved to 4-2 in the National Trail Conference, 12-5 overall and is back in action today at Ramsey.

CHBC was led by Ruby Stuckemeyer with the lone hit, a single.

At Tuscola

Tuscola edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then held off Teutopolis for a 6-4 victory Tuesday.

T-town pulled within 5-4 in the fifth inning but Tuscola tacked on a final run in the sixth.

The Wooden Shoes had five hits in the contest led by Olivia Copple with a double and Erin Althoff with two singles and two RBI. Emily Konkel added an RBI.

Charleston's Kailyn Wilson and Addison Strader combined to throw a no-hitter as Charleston blanked Altamont 23-0 in four innings Tuesday.

The Trojans had 24 hits in the game and Altamont committed five errors.

Wilson went two innings, allowing no walks while striking out four. Shrader went the final two innings, allowing no walks and striking out three.

Shrader was also on offensively with three singles, a triple and two RBI. Clara Cox had three singles and drove in eight runs while Kailyn Wilson had two singles, a triple and two RBI and Olivia Schuette had two triples and three RBI.
