EHS Drops Soccer Loss

Effingham High School went down to a defeat at the hands of Mount Carmel in soccer action Wednesday.

The Hearts lost 3-1. There was no junior varsity game.

Mount Carmel's Fabian Nordell scored the first goal at 37:57. Effingham came right back to tie the score on a goal by Tyler Katz with an assist from Jason Pike at 15:46.

The Golden Aces then mounted an attack in the second half as Quaid Rodgers scored at 37:01 to give Mount Carmel the 2-1 lead. The Aces then put the frosting on the cake when Alex Stoneburger scored at the 18:22 mark.

Dalton Steele had eight keeper saves for the Hearts while EHS had 14 shots on goal. Mount Carmel had 12 shots on goal and Cameron Kieffer had 13 keeper saves.

Effingham is now 8-2-1 on the season. The Hearts are back in action Friday at Salem in a 4 p.m. contest.
