Altamont Trounces BCCH, Area Baseball Roundup

BEECHER CITY -- Altamont High School trounced Beecher City-Cowden-Herrick 23-0 in five innings of baseball action Thursday.

The Indians stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and finished the contest with 16 hits. Caden Miller pitched a four-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.

Winn had two singles, a double and triple for the winners. Goeckner had a double, a two-run homer and finished with four RBI. K. Wolff had two singles, a double, a triple and four RBI. Armstrong had a double and two RBI.

BCCH was led by Cody Grove with two singles. BCCH drops to 1-7 on the season.

At Beecher City

Newton banged out 11 hits and was aided by six Palestine-Hutsonville errors in a 12-2 victory Thursday.

The Eagles stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead then had a four-run fifth. Caleb Chesnut pitched five innings allowing eight hits, two walks and striking out two.

Huston had three singles and drove in four runs while T. Weber had two singles and an RBI and B. Mammoser two singles and two RBI.

At Palestine

South Central picked up a five-inning 12-2 win over Ramsey. The Cougars held a 5-2 lead after two innings then had a five-run fourth and finished the game via the 10-run rule in the fifth.

Bray moved his pitching record to 2-1, throwing a four-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Drew Hill had a single and three RBI while Brett Harmeier, Smith and Bray had a single and two RBI each. The Cougars improve to 7-8 on the season.

At Ramsey

At Toledo

Cumberland defeated Marshall 4-3. Marshall held a 2-0 lead after two innings and held that until the fifth when the Pirates tallied three runs to push ahead. Marshall tied in the top of the seventh only to see Cumberland battle back with a run in the bottom of the frame to pull out the victory.

Blayke Cutts picked up the pitching win, going two innings, allowing no hits, one run, one walk and striking out three. He also aided his own cause with a single, double and an RBI. Kyle Swingler had three singles and Holden Elwood a single, double and two RBI.
