Mary Fruchtl Jansen, 98, of Effingham, passed away at 7:28 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Rose Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. In lieu of flowers, Mary’s family has requested that memorials may be made to A.R.C. or Oakview Group Home.

Mary was born March 12, 1914 in Sigel, the daughter of William and Christine (Hanfland) Fruchtl. She married Frank L. Jansen on November 11, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1971. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 720.

Mary is survived by her son, Jerry (Peg) of Effingham; six daughters, Judy Loafman of Effingham, Lynn Stremming of Jacksonville, Sue (Richard) Bushue of Teutopolis, Kathy (Bill) McClain of Teutopolis, Janet (Mick) Pierson of Morris and Sheila Jansen of Effingham; one sister, Alice Henry of Little; sister-in-law, Marge Fruchtl of Sigel; 16 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; one brother, Joe; three sons-in-law, Vern Loafman, Gene Stremming and Playford McManaway; three sisters, Mildred Fruchtl, Helen Deters and Claire Laub.
