The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that, weather permitting, road construction work will begin on the Illinois Central Railroad bridge over Fayette Avenue in Effingham on Monday, June 11.
Work on the project will involve removing and replacing a damaged bridge beam. Fayette Avenue will remain open, but will be reduced to one lane using flaggers on June 11-15. In addition, eastbound Fayette Avenue traffic between Maple and Banker Streets will be closed to traffic from 7pm on June 16 to 7am on June 17. The detour route will send eastbound traffic north on Maple Street to Jefferson Avenue, east on Jefferson to Banker, and south on Banker to Fayette.
Day labor with IDOT's Springfield Bureau of Operations will be performing the work.
