The Windsor residents suspected in a shooting incident in Johnson County this week are in custody and are being returned to Illinois to stand trial.

Illinois State Police say 41-year-old John Cunningham and 43-year-old Janet Cunningham were found sleeping in their vehicle near Madisonville, Kentucky and were taken into custody shortly before 4pm Wednesday.  Police say the Cunninghams were involved in the shooting of a man in the Lake of Egypt area of Johnson County just after 9:30pm Monday.  It's believed the pair stole a vehicle near the shooting scene and fled the area.  The two were spotted in Coles County, where it's thought they stole another vehicle.  The two were tracked to Indiana and then to Kentucky.  Illinois authorities contacted Kentucky State Police and the US Marshal's Service who arrested the Cunninghams without incident.

The two are facing preliminary charges of aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery with a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon.  State police say additional charges are anticipated; the charges now on file stem from the incidents in Johnson County.

The shooting victim was taken to the hospital and was treated, then released.
