Three Named to Hospital Friends Board

St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital has announced the appointment of three new members to the Friends of St. Anthony’s Board for a three-year term of July 2012 to June 2015.

Dan Clasby, PhD, recently retired as Superintendent of Effingham Unit 40 Schools. In addition to currently serving as Principal of Sacred Heart School in Effingham, he also is a Professor for Rock College where he instructs graduate level courses.
Dr. Clasby is Immediate Past Board Chair of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, and serves on the Chamber board with Dan Woods, President and CEO. In his role as Superintendent of Schools, Clasby has worked with hospital colleagues and physicians on various committees and task forces.
Dr. Clasby and his wife Pat, a retired French and English teacher, live in Effingham and belong to Sacred Heart Parish. Dan and Pat have five children, with the youngest graduating from the University of Illinois this spring, and one grandchild.
Cathy Bierman is a substitute teacher at the Junior High level for Effingham, St. Anthony and Teutopolis schools. Her husband Jim is the owner of Bierman Welding.
Bierman has been involved with the Friends Golf Benefit for the past two years. She has lived in Effingham all her life and enjoys golf, running/walking, reading, and spending time with her family. She and Jim live in Effingham, and are members of St. Anthony’s Parish. They have two married children, with one grandchild and are expecting a second grandchild soon.
Jeff Dust is a partner with Dust & Son, a family-owned automotive parts store and warehousing company that began serving the Effingham area in 1929. This year they celebrate the store’s 80th anniversary and have grown to nine stores. Dust, along with one of his brothers, also farms corn and soy beans in the Charleston and Ashmore areas.
Dust and his wife Donna live in Effingham, have four children, and are members of St. Anthony’s Parish. He serves as a Perpetual Adorer in the Chapel at St. Anthony’s. He enjoys the out-of-doors, farming, camping, golfing, and travelling.
Bierman, Dr. Clasby, and Dust join a team of volunteers on the Friends Board. Jim Hecht has been appointed Chairperson for the Friends for one year, and Dick Hawickhorst has been appointed as Vice-Chairperson.
Joan Brumleve, Jesse Heischmidt, and Donna Zerrusen, recently concluded their service on the Friends Board.
The Friends of St. Anthony’s is a division of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, Inc. The Friends of St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital was established in 1985 to ensure the continuing growth, stability and future of health care in this region. The Friends provide an opportunity to make a financial investment in St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital and to share in the hospital's healing mission. Currently, the Friends of St. Anthony’s are raising funds for the hospital’s Center for Advanced Imaging through its Hope & Healing Capital Campaign.
