Glass 640

Convicted murderer Christopher Glass of Mason was sentenced Monday to 55 years in prison for murder and concealment of homicidal death.

The 37-year-old Glass was found guilty in May of the April 2020 shooting death of Kimberly Mattingly, and of helping bury Mattingly's body in a rural area near Beecher City. At the start of Monday's hearing, the defense asked for acquittal or a new trial, but Judge Christopher Matoush denied the motion.

Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler presented law enforcement testimony as well as three victim impact statements. Glass did not speak in his own defense.

Judge Matoush sentenced Glass to 50 years in prison for the murder (25 years plus another 25 years for a firearm being used in the murder) as well as five years in prison for concealment of homicidal death. The sentences will run consecutively. Glass was also placed on three years mandatory supervised release to be served once out of prison on the murder count and another one year mandatory supervised release on the concealment of homicidal death count.

Glass' co-defendant, Aaron Kaiser of Beecher City, was found guilty in August of 2020 of concealment of homicidal death for his role in disposing of Mattingly's body on Kaiser's parents' property. He was sentenced in October 2020 to 8-1/2 years in prison.
