SIGEL -- Stewardson-Strasburg and Sigel St. Michael captured victories Tuesday evening at the Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Volleyball Regional.

 

Stew-Stras had to go all three sets to beat Martinsville. Stew-Stras won 25-18 before Martinsville claimed the next set 25-22. Stew-Stras then won the contest 25-12.

St. Michael downed Newton St. Thomas, 25-22, 25-23.

Top-seeded Stew-Stras and second-seeded St. Michael will now meet for the regional championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-2A Edwards County (Albion) Regional

Effingham St. Anthony advanced to the championship match of the Edwards County Regional Tuesday.

The Bullpups won 29-27, 25-20 over North Clay (Louisville).

North Clay ended the season with a 13-12 record.

Casey-Westfield then claimed the second match over Oblong.

Casey-Westfield won the opener 25-23 before Oblong took the second set 25-17. The third set went overtime as Casey-Westfield won 31-29.

St. Anthony, seeded fourth, and third-seeded Casey-Westfield will now meet for the regional championship Thursday at 5 p.m.

 

Class 8-2A Assumption Central A&M Regional

South Central moved into the championship match of the Assumption Central A&M Regional with a victory Tuesday evening.

South Central, seeded No. 1, downed the host squad, 25-20, 25-12.

The second match was third-seeded St. Elmo/Brownstown against second-seeded Nokomis. Nokomis took the victory, 25-12, 25-9.

South Central and Nokomis advance to the championship contest Thursday at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis and Jasper County will meet for this regional championship.

T-town was a winner over Cumberland, 25-5, 25-16. The victory for the Wooden Shoes was the 20th of the season as they moved to a 20-4 record.

Ella Willenberg led with 13 aces, six digs and four kills. Cecilia Donsbach led in assists with six.

In the second contest, Jasper County downed Robinson Nuttall, 25-14, 25-21.

Leading Jasper County were Brooks with seven aces, Schackmann with eight kills, Tate with eight assists and one block and Reich with six digs.

Jasper County is now 19-1 on the season.

T-town and Jasper County square off Thursday at 6 p.m. for the regional championship.

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis -- Willenberg, 13 aces, 6 digs, 4 kills; Isley, 4 assists, 3 kills; Donsbach, 6 assists, 2 aces, 3 kills; Niemerg, 5 digs, 3 kills

Jasper County -- Brooks, 7 aces, 5 kills, 2 digs; Rice, 2 aces; Reich, 1 ace, 1 kill, 5 assists, 6 digs; Flowers, 1 ace, 1 kill, 2 digs; Inyart, 1 ace, 6 assists; Schackmann, 8 kills, 3 digs; Radke, 4 kills; Dhom, 3 kills; Tate, 8 assists, 1 block

 

Class 8-4A Taylorville Regional

Effingham saw its season come to a close at the Taylorville Regional Tuesday evening.

The fifth-seeded Mustangs fell to Chatham Glenwood, 25-22, 25-21.

Emery Spicer led in kills with five and digs with eight. Seatyn Althoff also had eight digs and led in assists with nine. Madilyn Summers had three aces. Keagyn Koenig had one block.

In the second match, Taylorville, was a winner over third-seeded Rochester, 25-13, 25-21.

Second-seeded Taylorville will now meet top-seeded Chatham Glenwood at 5:30 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 8-4A Taylorville Regional

Effingham -- Althoff, 9 assists, 1 ace, 8 digs; Cekander, 2 kills, 4 assists, 1 ace, 5 digs; Flessner, 5 digs; Summers, 3 aces, 1 dig; Spicer, 5 kills, 8 digs; Barnes, 2 digs; Poe, 1 dig; Baker, 1 dig; Koenig, 3 kills, 1 block, 2 digs
