South Central Heads To Seventh-Grade State Volleyball Tourney

South Central claimed the championship of the Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Volleyball Sectional Monday evening.

South Central downed Oblong in the title contest. The winners took the opener 25-11 but Oblong came back to win 25-21. South Central then won the match 25-18.

South Central is 17-6 on the season and advances to the Class 7-2A State Tournament Friday at Brimfield High School.

South Central will take on Gardner (21-1) at 5:45 p.m. Other matches feature Mossville against Peoria Christian at 4:30, Mount Pulaski meeting Bunker Hill Wolf Ridge at 7 and Champaign St. Matthew against  Lewistown at 8:15 p.m.

The winners advance to Saturday action.

 

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Sectional

Neoga saw its season come to a close in the Sigel St. Michael Sectional Monday evening.

West Salem was a winner over Neoga 25-20, 26-24.

West Salem advances to the Class 7-1A State Tournament Friday and will meet LaSalle Trinity Catholic at 7 p.m.

 

Class 7-3A Cumberland Sectional

Paris Mayo downed Teutopolis in the Cumberland Sectional Monday evening.

Mayo was a winner 25-23, 25-13.

T-town was led by Lily Tegler with three aces, two kills and five assists, Faith Ruholl with two kills, Rose Brummer with nine digs and Bella Neibrugge with two kills.

Rose Brummer won the Sportsmanship Award.

T-town ends the season with a 19-4 record.

Paris Mayo (24-1) advances to the Class 7-3A State Tournament and will meet Staunton at 5:45 p.m. Friday.
