TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham and Teutopolis split victories in seventh- and eighth-grade volleyball action Monday evening.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match. T-town took the opener 25-13 but Effingham came back with 28-26 and 25-11 scores for the victory.

Olivia Koester and April Martin had three kills each for Effingham while Sophie Hahney, Laynee Pankau and Alayna Wade had two assists each. Seven players had an ace each.

In the eighth-grade contest, Teutopolis was a 25-16, 25-12 winner.

Effingham was led by Emery Spicer with three kills, Alaina Miller with four assists, two aces and three digs. Addison Barnes had one block. Seatyn Althoff and Jocelyn Ruben had three digs each.

Effingham returns to action Thursday at St. Elmo.

At Effingham

Neoga came calling at Effingham St. Anthony but went home with two defeats Monday evening.

The Bullpups were winners in the seventh-grade match, 25-14, 25-22.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony won 25-19, 25-17.

 

At Newton

Jasper County won both matches over Lawrenceville Monday evening.

Jasper County claimed the seventh-grade match, 25-22, 27-25 to improve to 1-1.

J. Stanley led in aces with five and assists with two. L. Thomann had five kills. Gentry led in digs with four. Wagner had one block.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County was a winner 25-13, 25-16 and is now 2-0.

J. Reich and G. Flowers led in aces with three each. Reich led in assists with six and had one dig. G. Flowers and S. Schackmann had one dig each. T. Jones led in kills with eight.

Jasper County is back in action Thursday against Sigel St. Michael.
