STRASBURG -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg hosted Altamont as two National Trail Conference volleyball teams met Thursday.

The Hatchets came out the winners in two sets, 25-15, 25-14 and improved to a perfect 4-0 on the season, 2-0 in the NTC.

"I felt like several things didn't flow like they should have but then many things did," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "I'm anxious to see what we can do this weekend at the Crossroads Classic. We've been working really hard to prepare."

Ella Kinkelaar led the Hatchets in aces with six, assists with 16 and digs with seven. Halle Moomaw had eight kills and one solo block.

Leading Altamont were Peyton Osteen and Della Berg with one ace each. Riley Rippetoe with five kills, Libby Reardon with seven digs, Makaylee Splechter with seven assists and P. Osteen, Grace Lemke and Kylie Osteen with one block each.

The Hatchets won the junior varsity match, 25-23, 25-14 and improved to 4-0. Brooke Schumacher led in aces with three. Brinlie Durbin had eight kills. Kendra Hayes led in assists with 10 and digs with five.

WSS and Altamont split in freshman/sophomore play. WSS won 25-13 and Altamont claimed a 25-19 victory.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City nabbed a non-conference victory over Sandoval Thursday.

The Bobcats won 25-22, 25-13 and evened their record to 3-3.

Kyleigh Wallace led the way in kills with six. Karlee Smith had six aces and four blocks, Marissa Summers led in assists with 12. Ellie Miller and Macee Rodman had five digs each.

CHBC also won the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-7.

At Cowden

At Wayne City

South Central defeated Wayne City in a non-conference matchup Thursday.

The Cougars won 25-21, 25-14 ro improve to 6-5 on the season.

The team was led by Reagan Roberts with 15 assists, Emma Chambers with four digs and three aces, Brooke Cowger with eight kills, Emma Jenne with one block and Lauren Johnson with four digs.

In the junior varsity match, South Central lost the opener 25-17 but came back with 25-23, 16-14 scores for the match. The Cougars improved to 4-2.

At Wayne City

At Robinson

Effingham St. Anthony fell to Robinson in three sets Thursday.

Robinson claimed the opener 25-14 but St. Anthony took the second set, 25-20. The Maroons then won the match 25-20.

Andrea Rudolphi led the Bulldogs in kills with eight and aces with two. Maddy Kibler led in digs with 12. Addi Nuxoll had two blocked shots. Stacey Vonderheide led in assists with 12.

The Bulldogs dropped to 6-3 on the season.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity match, 25-22, 25-14.

At Robinson

At Newton

Edwards County (Albion) came calling and downed Newton in Thursday competition.

The Eagles won the opener in varsity action, 25-17 but Edwards County took the match, 25-18, 25-16.

Newton was led by Schafer with two aces and 13 assists, Zumbahlen with 11 kills. Meinhart with three blocks and Bennett with 17 digs. The Eagles drop to 6-8 on the season.

Newton won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-9 and split in freshman play, losing 25-12 and winning 25-16.
