Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City picked up two victories over Windsor in junior high volleyball Thursday.

CHBC won the seventh-grade match. Windsor took the opening set, 25-19 before CHBC won the match, 25-15, 25-17.

"Once again the seventh-grade team played three games," said CHBC Coach Angela Jefferies. "However, this time they were able to take a win. They have great serves and in two of the games, better communication. We are fixing the inconsistencies little by little."

In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC won 25-12, 25-9.

"The eighth-graders served well today and played together," said Coach Jefferies. "They were able to set each other up and get some good kills in."

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed victories over Shelbyville Moulton Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes improved to 10-5 in the seventh-grade with 26-24, 25-9 wins.

"I was really excited for how we stuck to playing hard in the first set and that Ella Willenborg went back and hit those clutch serves," said T-town Coach Anthony Munoz. "Then we got Abby Kocher with a couple important digs in the second set and we didn't let them into the game."

In eighth-grade play, T-town lost the opener 26-24 but came back with 25-21, 26-24 victories to improve to 12-3.

"That was a great match, one of those where you hate that someone has to lose because Shelbyville played hard, hit hard and we wound up just being a smidge better tonight in the end," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "I thought Lilli Wernsing coming in to the second set and raring back for two straight aces really changed the tone for us on the night while Clara Mette picked up with her serving where she left it at Altamont."

Jasper County handed Charleston two losses Thursday.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade match, 25-21, 25-17 and is now 9-6 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County won 25-19, 26-24 and is 12-2.

At Louisville

North Clay fell to South Central in the annual Pink Out game.

North Clay is back in action Saturday in the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Tournament against Sigel St. Michael.

 

At St. Elmo

Stewardson-Strasburg captured victories over St. Elmo/Brownstown.

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade match, 25-19, 25-17.

Edie Wittenberg led in assists with seven and kills with eight while Jackie Vonderheide led in aces with seven and digs with five.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Elmo/Brownstown won the opener 25-16 but Stew-Stras came back with 25-13, 25-12 scores for the match.

Kendra Hayes led in aces with seven, digs with six, assists with nine and kills with nine. Brooke Schumacher had two blocks.
