Teutopolis claimed both junior high volleyball victories at home Friday against Effingham St. Anthony.

 

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade match, 25-11, 25-16 to improve to 9-4.

"We did a really good job of anticipating when the ball was going to come over, especially when it was the first and second contacts, so that we were able to get more than 20 swings at the ball tonight," said T-town Coach Anthony Munoz.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 25-14, 25-21 winner and is now 10-3 on the season.

Marie Zumbahlen led in digs with 13. Gabby Tegeler had seven kills and one block. Anna Hemmen also had one block. Madison Probst led in assists with nine. Elise Pals had three aces.

"Honestly, we had too many defensive lapses tonight with our communication," said T-town Coach Jim Dietz. "We let multiple balls hit the ground while we watched it like a marshmallow over a campfire, but we were able to overcome that, some great hustle plays especially by Clara Mette."

At Windsor

St. Elmo/;Brownstown won both matches over Windsor Friday.

SEB claimed the seventh-grade contest, 25-17, 25-19. Jenna Forbes led in aces with nine.

In the eighth-grade match, St. Elmo/Brownstown nabbed a 25-13, 25-14 win.

Danika Ramsey led in ace swith five. Madi Miller had three kills. Mya Barker led in assists with three.

At Windsor

Seventh-Grade Match

St. Elmo/Brownstown -- Koonce, 6 aces, Forbes, 9 aces; Holliday, 3 aces

Eighth-Grade Match

St. Elmo/Brownstown -- Ramsey, 5 aces, 2 kills; Logue, 4 aces, 1 kill, 2 assists; Miller, 3 aces, 3 kills, 1 block; Felmlee, 1 ace; Stonecipher, 1 kill; Dush, 2 kills; Barker, 1 kill, 3 assists; Miller, 1 ace, 1 kill

 

At Farina

South Central defeated Neoga in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Friday.

South Central won the seventh-grade match, 25-11, 25-15 and is now 10-1 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest, South Central was a 25-13, 25-13 winner and sports a 10-4 record.
