Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed a victory at the Class 8-2A Assumption Central A&M Volleyball Regional Wednesday.

CHBC won its opener over Edinburg 25-23. Edinburg came back with a 25-23 win. CHBC then claimed the match, 25-16.

In the opening contest, Assumption Central A&M downed Decatur Montessori Academy For Peace, 25-20, 25-18.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will meet Assumption Central A&M at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

 

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Jasper County claimed the championshp of the Paris Mayo Regional Wednesday.

Jasper County fell in the opening set to Robinson Nuttall, 25-13. But Jasper County came back with 25-23, 26-24 scores for the victory.

The squad advances to the Teutopolis Sectional Monday and will take on either Pana or Shelbyville Moulton at 6:30 p.m. Those two teams play today for the championship of the Macon Meridian Regional.

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Jasper County -- Reich, 4 aces, 4 kills, 4 digs; Meinhart, 3 aces, 3 kills, 1 block, 6 digs; Deckard, 2 aces; Mitchell, 1 ace, 6 digs; Will, 4 kills, 2 digs; Marshall, 3 kills, 1 dig; Holder, 1 kill, 11 assists, 10 digs; Michl, 1 assist, 6 digs; Yager, 1 dig

 

Class 8-2A Paris Crestwood Regional

Oblong won the championship of this regional. Oblong downed Casey-Westfield, 25-9, 25-11.

Oblong will take on the winner of the St. Elmo/Brownstownl Regional, either Effingham St. Anthony or Edwards County (Albion).

 

Class 8-4A Rochester Regional

Taylorville won the champoinship of the Rochester Regional.

Taylorville defeated host Rochester, 25-19, 26-24 and advances to the Rochester Sectional and take on Mahomet-Seymour at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

 

Tonight's regional championships:

-- Sigel St. Michael and Newton St. Thomas will meet at 6 p.m. for the championship of tthe Class 8-1A St. Michael Regional today.

St. Michael had advanced to the title match with a 25-22, 25-16 win over Grayville Tuesday while St. Thomas downed West Salem in a hard-fought battle, 25-23, 21-25, 32-30.

-- Effingham St. Anthony meets Edwards County (Albion) at 6 p.m. today for the championship of the Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional. The winner heads to the Casey-Westfield Sectional Monday and will take on Oblong, the winner of the Paris Crestwood Regional, at 6:30 p.m.
