High School Volleyball Regionals Begin Monday

Effingham St. Anthony will host a Class 1A regional. Opening the docket Monday will be No. 2 South Central against No. 14 Mulberry Grove at 5:30 p.m. followed by No. 9  St. Elmo/Brownstown taking on No. 11 Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday's matches will feature No. 3 St. Anthony against No. 13 Dieterich at 5:30 and No. 6 Altamont meeting No. 12 Neoga at 6:30.

The winners advance to Wednesday action with the championship match at 6 p.m. Thursday.

North Clay (Louisville) and Cumberland will be competing in the Clay City Regional.

That regional opens with one match Monday as No. 7 Hutsonville/Palestine faces No. 8 Patoka Co-op.

In Tuesday play, No. 4 Clay City squares off against  No. 15 Red Hill (Bridgeport) at 5:30 and No. 5 North Clay takes on No. 10 Oblong at 6:30.

No. 1 Cumberland will then face the winner of match one at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The championship is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg is the lone area school taking part in the Moweaqua Central A&M Regional.

The Hatchets are the No. 1 seed and won't play until Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against the winner of match one, either No. 6 Moweaqua Central A&M or No. 10 Tuscola. Those two play Monday at 6 p.m.

Other teams in the regional at No. 4  Macon Meridian, No. 5 Bethany Okaw Valley, No. 12 Cerro Gordo/Bement and  No. 14 Arcola. The championshp is scheduled Thursday at 6 p.m.

Teutopolis and Newton will be competing in Class 2A. Newton is hosting the regional.

No. 9 Teutopolis will open the regional MOnday against No. 6 Marshall at 5:30 p.m. No. 5 Robinson will take on No. 10 Lawrenceville at 6:30.

In Tuesday play, No. 2 Breese Central meets the winner of match one at 5:30 and No. 3 Newton takes on the winner of match two at 6;30. The championship is Thursday at 6 p.m.

Effingham High School will host a Class 3A regional.

The Hearts are seeded No. 6 and will meet No. 3 Mattoon Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. In the other Tuesday contest at 5:30, No. 2 Marion takes on the winner of the 6 p.m. Monday contest, either No. 7 Olney or No. 8 Charleston.

The winners meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for the title.
