Seventh-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- March 8

Effingham moved into the championship match of the Class 4A Mahomet-Seymour Volleyball Sectional with a victory Monday evening.

The Mustangs claimed the match over third-seeded Mount Zion, 25-12, 25-22. EJHS, seeded second, improved to 12-1 on the season and will now play Thursday for the regional championship.

Top-seeded Mahomet-Seymour defeated fourth-seeded Charleston, 25-21, 25-10.

Effingham will travel to Mahomet-Seymour Thursday for the regional title at 4:30 p.m.

Class 7-4A Mahomet-Seymour Regional

Effingham -- Tuman, 3 assists, 1 dig; Wolf, 1 kill, 3 aces, 6 digs; Pullen, 3 kills, 7 aces, 10 assists, 5 digs; Engel, 1 ace; Martin, 8 kills, 2 aces, 1 assist, 1 block, 1 dig; Armstrong, 3 kills, 2 aces

 

Class 7-3A Jasper County Regional

Teutopolis tallied a victory over Vandalia, 25-4, 25-12 in the Jasper County Regional Monday.

T-town, seeded third, toppled second-seeded Vandalia and moved into the championship match Thursday.

The Shoes (8-6) will face Jasper County at 4:30 p.m. for the title in Newton.

Class 7-3A Jasper County Regional

Teutopolis -- Al. Ruholl, 1 ace, 6 assists, 6 digs; Av. Ruholl, 2 assists, 1 dig; Horn, 1 assist, 2 kills; Probst, 3 aces, 4 kills, 2 digs; Martin, 1 ace; Wittenmeyer, 1 dig; Kemme, 5 aces, 4 kills, 1 dig; Miller, 5 kills; Wermert, 4 aces

 

Class 7-2A St. Anthony Regional

Effingham St. Anthony will be playing for the championship of its own regional after taking a victory Monday.

Neoga, seeded fifth, won the opener over the top-seeded Bullpups, 25-19. But St. Anthony came back strong with 25-12, 25-8 scores for the win.

St. Anthony will face either Findlay Okaw Valley or Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday for the regional title at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony.

Okaw Valley and CHBC will meet tonight at 6 for the right to advance.

 

Class 7-2A Oblong Regional

Casey-Westfield picked up a victory at the Oblong Regional Monday.

The second-seed downed third-seeded Martinsville, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19.

Tonight's match finds Dieterich against Oblong at 4:30 p.m. at Oblong. The winner then advances to meet Casey-Westfield for the championship Thursday.

 

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael and Effingham Sacred Heart met Monday evening but no score has been reported.

Tonight's match finds Stewardson-Strasburg against Newton St. Thomas at 4:30.

The winners advance to the title contest Thursday.
