Newton Third, T-town Fifth at Sam Bennett Girls Track Invite

ROBINSON -- Newton claimed third place while Teutopolis was fifth at the Sam Bennett Girls Track Invitational Friday.

Glen Carbon Father McGivney won the meet with 100 points followed by Robinson 86, Newton 78, Shelbyville 68, Teutopolis 58, Richland County 54, Marshall 36, Mount Carmel 24, Brownstown/St. Elmo 18, Paris 14, Cumberland 8, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 6, Altamont 2 and Neoga 2.

Newton's 800 relay team of Alaina Kuhl, Elley Bennett, Morgan Schafer and Makayla McVicar captured first place in 1:54.17 minutes. The 400 relay team of Kuhl, Bennett, Schafer and McVicar finished second in 53.69 seconds.

The Eagles' Brooke Schafer claimed first in the shot with a throw of 35 feet, 8 1/2 inches and was second in the discus with a throw of 96-6.

Kamryn Martin took second in the pole vault at 10 feet 6 inches while teammate Camryn Martin was third at 10-0. K. Martin was third in the 300 hurdles in 52.70 seconds.

Sydney Kinder was fourth in the 400 in 1:03.11 minutes.

T-town's Ella Neihls won the long jump at 16 feet, 6 inches and finished third in the triple jump at 34 feet, 6 1/2 inches while teammate Kaela Niehls was fourth in 34-5.

The Wooden Shoes' 400 relay team of Adi Davidson, Halle Bushue, E. Niehls and Kaitlyn Vahling won the 400 relay in 52.63 seconds.

Kaitlyn Vahling took second in the 100 in 12.56 seconds and was second in the 200 in 26.10. She finished third in the 400 in 1:02.03 minutes.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Katie Berner took second in the 300 hurdles in 51.23 seconds.

Cumberland's Katelyn Shoemaker captured second place in the long jump at 15 feet, 8 inches.
