EHS' Heil, Relay Teams Headed To 2A State Boys Track Meet

MATTOON -- Effingham High School will be represented by one individual and a relay team at the Class 2A State Boys Track Meet.

The first and second place finishers, along with any reaching state qualifying standards, advance to the State Meet at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium.

Logan Heil finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.77 seconds.

The 400 relay team of Weldon Dunston, Caden Walls, Jacob Weaver and Muhammad Freeman advanced with a qualifying time of 43.33 seconds. The qualifying standard is 43.66. The squad finished fourth.

The 800 relay team of Freeman, Weaver, Dunston and Walls finished eigith but reached the state qualfiying standard. The Hearts finishe din 1:31.78 and the qualifying standard was 1:31.98.

Mount Zion won the team championship with 89.5 points. The Hearts finished ninth with 24.
