EHS Celebrates Senior Night At Track Meets

Effingham High School celebrated Senior Night with a boys and girls track meet Tuesday.

The Hearts won the girls meet with 108 points followed by Charleston 57 and Altamont 19.

EHS captured 13 first place finishes in the meet. Haddie Hill, Baylee Summers and Jessica Larsen were double event winners.

Hill claimed the 200 in 28.1 seconds and the 400 in 1:05.4 minutes. Summers won the 800 in 2:38.6 minutes and the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches. Larsen claimed the 1600 in 5:32.5 mintues and the 3200 in 13:58.2

Other first place finishes were by Taylor Greene in the 100 hurdles in 18.5 seconds, Rylea Hodge in the 300 hurdles in 52.5. Kendyll Schoonover captured the shot with a throw of 29 feet, 1 1/4 inches and Katie Ziegler took the discus with a throw of 99-8.

The Hearts won three of the four relay events. EHS took the 400 in 54.4 seconds and team members were Hill, Laney Myers, Kyra Hazelton and Kayleigh Koester.

EHS took the 800 relay in 1:59.3. Koester, Taylor Greene, Layni Frey and Hodge were the participants. The 1600 relay team of Summers, Allison Miller, Larsen and Hill won in 4:33.4 minutes.

Altamont's RayLynn Myers was a winner in the pole vault at 8 feet.

In the boys meet, Altamont won with 90 points followed by Effingham 84.

The Indians captured nine first place finishes. Ben Roedl was a winner in three events. He took the high jump at 6 feet, 4 inches, the long jump at 18-5 and the triple jump at 37-9.

Eric Kollmann was a winner in two events. Kollmann won the shot at 45-9 and the discus at 145-2.

Juan Fulk won the 3200 in 13:51.1 minutes and Kingston Koester captured the pole vault at 12-0.

The Indians won the 800 relay in 1:41.5. Team members were Alex Walker, Dalton Roedl, Koester and Summers. They also won the 3200 relay in 11:12.8. Members of the team were Summers, Lane Spring, Andrew Ellersik and Fulk.

The Hearts also claimed nine first place finishes. Logan Heil was a two-event winner with a victory in the 110 hurdles in 16.8 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 45.6.

Caden Walls won the 100 in 11.0 seconds while Weldon Dunston took the 200 in 23.6, Adam Flack the 400 in 55.5 and Garrett Wagoner the 800 in 2:09.6.

The Hearts won the 400 relay in 45.0 seconds. Team members were Jacob Weaver, Walls, Andrew Lotz and Dunston. They also claimed the 1600 relay in 3:59.7. Jonah Sporleder, Wagoner, Aaron Hill and Payton Bushue were members of the team.
