St. Anthony Edges Flora, T-town Blanks Newton In Tennis

Effingham St. Anthony edged Flora 5-4 in high school tennis competition Monday.

The two teams split the singles victories. St. Anthony's Manaya Mossman, Evan Mossman and Joey Trupiano were victorious.

M. Mossman won easily 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot. E. Mossman took No. 2, 6-4, 6-2 while Trupiano claimed the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-3.

In doubles, M. Mossman and E. Mossman combined to win 6-0, 7-6 (5) while Colin Westendorf and Trupiano combined to win 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-8.

At Effingham

No. 1 -- Manaya Mossman (SA) defeated Ollie Collins (F), 6-1, 6-1

No. 2 -- Evan Mossman (SA) defeated Adam Pietz (F), 6-4, 6-2

No. 3 -- Jordan Gocey (F) defeated Colin Westendorf (SA), 6-4, 7-5

No. 4 -- Joey Trupiano (SA) defeated Baxton-Pipher (F), 6-3, 6-3

No. 5 -- Zaiden Lewis (F) defeated Charlie Wegman (SA), 6-3, 6-4

No. 6 -- Kyler Dennis (F) defeated Teddy Dietzen (SA), 6-0, 6-1

Doubles

No. 1 -- M. Mossman-E. Mossman (SA) defeated Pietz-Gocey (F), 6-0, 7-6 (5)

No. 2 -- Westendorf-Trupiano (SA) defeated Pipher-Dennis (F), 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-8

No. 3 -- Collins-Spicer (F) defeated Eggars-Jackson  Schultz (SA), 6-7 (7), 6-1, 10-5

 

At Newton

Teutopolis blanked Newton by a 9-0 count in tennis action Monday.

The Wooden Shoes went through Newton easily as Colin Habing was a 6-2 6-3 winner at the top spot. Oliver Lee and Carter Davidson were 6-1, 6-0 winners at No. 2 and No. 3. Myles Stortzum went 6-3, 6-3. Will Lewis downed his opponent 6-0, 6-1 while Noah Thompson blanked his Newton opponent 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Lee and Thompson combined to win 6-2, 6-2. Davidson and Stortzum went 6-4, 6-4 while C. Habing and Lewis blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
