Altamont Wins Cumberland Boys Track Invitational

TOLEDO -- Altamont High School claimed the championship of the Cumberland Pirate Boys Track Invitational Tuesday.

The Indians tallied 81 points followed by Newton 65, Catlin Salt Fork 62, Casey-Westfield 52, Vandalia 39, Effingham St. Anthony 28, Brownstown/St. Elmo 27, Cumberland 26, Hume Shiloh 22, Teutopolis 14, Broadlands Heritage 10, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 4 and Dieterich 1.

Ben Roedl was the lone winner for Altamont, claiming three victories. Roedl won the high jump at 1.93 meters. He also claimed the long jump at 6.39 meters and was a winner in the triple jump at 12.63 meters. He also produced points with a third place finish in the 110 hurdles in 17.06 seconds.

Altamont claimed three second place finishes as Hayden Summers took that position in the 800 in 2:14.44 minutes and Brock Wendling was second in the shot with a throw of 39 feet, 1/2 inch. The other second was the 800 relay team of Dexter Sloan, Trent Tedrick, Garrett Schultz and Jacob Veteto in 1:40.76.

Third place went to Logan Duncan in the 100 in 11.90 seconds and Derrick Bauer in the discus with a throw of 134-7.

The 400 relay team of Duncan, Veteto, Alex Walker and Schultz was third in 47.36 seconds.

Effingham St. Anthony's 3200 relay team captured a victory with a time of 8:41.21 minutes. Team members were Elliott Frisbie, Isaac Fallert, Julius Ramos and Noah Flaig.

Newton's Luke Weber captured two victories. Weber won the 800 in 2:08 minutes and took the 3200 in 10:24.96.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Lowell Wihour was a winner in the 300 hurdles in 43.22 seconds. Trenten Monnet was a winner in the discus with a throw of 43.75 meters.

Teutopolis' Anthony Roley claimed first place in the shot with a heave of 12.65 meters.
