Teutopolis Wins Robert Logan Doubles Tennis Invite, Nabs Monday Victory

ALTON -- Teutopolis High School captured the championship of the Alton Doubles Tennis Invitational Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes tallied 27 points followed by O'Fallon 23, Chatham Glenwood 19, deSmet Jesuit 18, Greenville 13, Urbana University 12, Alton Senior 12, Helias Catholic 11, Waterloo 10, Bethalto Civic Memorial 8, Effingham St. Anthony 7, Rockton Hononegah 5,  Alton Marquette 2, Fort Zumwalt South 1 and Fort Zumwalt East 0.

The Wooden Shoes were champions in Flight 3 and Flight 4.

In Flight 3, Josh Habing and Will Lewis won over an Urbana University duo, 6-1, 6-1 then had a tougher match against a twosome from Waterloo, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7. That put the pair into the championship match against a duo from O'Fallon. Habing and Lewis won 6-4, 6-4 for the title.

In Flight 4, Carter Davidson and Myles Stortzum won their opener over a Fort Zumwalt duo, 6-2, 6-3. The pair then went up against an O'Fallon team and won 7-5, 4-6, 12-10.

That put Davidson and Stortzum against a DeSmet Jesuit duo and they won 6-3, 3-6, 12-0. In the title match, Davidson and Stortzum were winners over Bethalto Civic Memorial, 6-3, 3-6, 12-10.

Oliver Lee and Noah Thompson finished third in Flight 2. The pair won over De Smet Jesuit, 4-6, 6-1, 10-0 then fell to Chatham Glenwood 7-5, 6-2. In the third place match, Lee and Thompson were winners over an O'Fallon twosome, 6-2, 7-6.

Kolten Tabbert and Colin Habing were opening round winners over a pair from Greneville, 6-4, 6-2 then downed a duo from Helias Catholic, 6-4, 6-2. Tabbert and Habing lost to an O'Fallon team, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 and dropped into the third place match. Tabbert and Habing then fell to a Urbana University pair, 6-3, 6-4 to finish fourth.

St. Anthony also competed in the tournament. Evan Mossman and Manaye Mossman had an opening round bye. The duo then fell to Urbana University, 6-4, 1-6, 10-2. They dropped into the fifth place bracket and won over a Chatham Glenwood duo, 1-6, 7-6, 14-12 before falling to a duo from Helias Catholic, 6-4, 6-4 to finish sixth.

In Flight 2, Colin Westendorf and Charlie Wegman fell in opening round play to a team from Greenville, 6-3, 6-1.

In Flight 3, St. Anthony's Connor Eggars and Jackson Schultz lost in opening round play to a Greenville team, 6-3, 7-5.

Alec Hakman and Teddy Dietzen competed in Flight 4 and fell in the opener to a Greenville squad, 6-3, 7-5.

 

At Flora

Teutopolis handed Flora an 8-1 loss in Monday action.

T-town claimed five of the six singles matches. Kolten Tabbert claimed the top spot, 6-1, 6-0 while Colin Habing took No. 2, 6-2, 6-2. Oliver Lee won at No. 3, 6-2, 6-4 and Will Lewis downed his opponent, 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4. Carter Davidson finished the singles wins at No. 5, 7-5, 6-3.

In doubles play, Josh Habing and C. Habing were winners, 6-1, 6-0. Lee and Noah Thompson combined to win at No. 2, 7-5, 6-1.
