Effingham St. Anthony and Newton held opponents to zero points in taking high school tennis victories Monday.

St. Anthony 9, Casey-Westfield 0

The Bulldogs swept through singles play easily, not letting any Casey-Westfield tennis player score over two points.

Emily Kowalke took the top spot by a 6-2, 6-1 count while Liv Hoene went 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3. Nora Trupiano downed her opponent 6-1, 6-2 and Anna Green was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 6.

Mia Kinkelaar and Ellie Link blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 4.

In doubles play, Kinkelaar and Link combined to win by that same 6-0, 6-0 count at No. 1. Kowalke and Gracie Passalacqua downed their opponents in the closest match of the day, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4. Hoene and Trupiano were winners at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1.

No. 1 -- Kinkelaar-Link (SA) defeated Eckerty-Truelove (CW), 6-0, 6-0

No. 2 -- Kowalke-Gracie Passalacqua (SA) defeated Hancock-Shull (CW), 4-6, 6-3, 10-4

No. 3 -- Hoene-Trupiano (SA) defeated Seaton-Tristan Ring (CW), 6-0, 6-1

 

At Vandalia

Newton captured a 7-0 victory over Vandalia Monday.

The Eagles won five singles matches as Charlotte Schackmann went 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. Paige Klingler won the No. 2 spot, 7-5, 6-2.

Jailyn Hall and Darci Marble were 6-0, 6-1 winners at No. 3 and 4 respectively. Chloe Kroenlein took the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Schackmann and Abby Menke combined to win 10-6.

At the No. 2 spot, Klingler and Hall were 10-4 winners.

At Vandalia
