Effingham Downs Mt. Vernon In Tennis

MOUNT VERNON -- Effingham High School tallied a 6-3 win over Mount Vernon in tennis competition Thursday.

The Hearts won five of the six singles matches. Thad Dillow took the No. 1 spot by a 6-3, 6-2 score. Blayne Pals was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at No. 2.

Preston Siner claimed the No. 4 spot, 7-6 (3), 6-3. Ross Schafer was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 5 and Cannon Bockhorn finished out at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

In doubles play, Schaefer and Bockhorn were winners at No. 2, 10-4.

No. 1 -- Thad Dillow (E) defeated Truman Carnine (MV), 6-3, 6-2

No. 2 -- Blayne Pals (E) defeated Alex Zinzilieta (MV), 6-0, 6-3

No. 4 -- Preston Siner (E) defeated ian Carrothers (MV), 7-6 (3), 6-3

No. 5 -- Ross Schaefer (E) defeated Carter Shook (MV), 6-0, 6-2

No. 6 -- Cannon Bockhorn (E) defeated Eli Harris (MV), 6-0, 6-1

No. 1 -- Bendersky-Carnine (MV) defeated Pals-Siner (E), 10-7

No. 2 -- Schaefer-Bockhorn (E) defeated Carrothers-Zinzilieta (MV), 10-4

No. 3 -- Shook-Harris (MV) defeated Blake Hagler-Chayse Webb (E), 10-6
