EHS, St. Anthony Tennis Players Out Of Further Action At State

Effingham and Effingham St. Anthony tennis players competed at the Class A State Tennis Tournament in the Chicago area Thursday and are now out of further action.

St. Anthony's Noah Tegeler competed in singles play and lost his opener against Sean Robertson (Quincy Notre Dame), 6-0, 6-2. He then won over Marvel Zhang of Sterling Newman Central Catholic, 6-0, 6-4. Tegeler exited the tourney with his second loss against Zane Bisharat of Darien Hinsdale South, 6-2, 6-0.

Henry Kemme and Aiden Tegeler competed in doubles. The pair won their first round over Bloomington Central Catholic, 6-0, 6-2 as Darlene Esker, St. Anthony coach, went up against her daughter Hannah Meece, the Bloomington Central Catholic coach.

Kemme and Tegeler then fell to Noah Bobofchak and Andrew Donovan of Lisle Benet Academy, 6-0, 6-1 and exited the tourney with a loss to Keagan Nevitt and Grififn Hamond of Metamora, 6-1, 6-2.

Effingham High School's Thad Dillow dropped his first match to Will Benford of Chicago Latin, 6-0, 6-1 and left further tourney play with a loss to David Lu of Springfield, 6-4, 6-0.
