Hearts Beat Maroons In Tennis, 7-2

ROBINSON -- Effngham High School picked up five singles victories and two doubles wins in downing Robinson, 7-2 in tennis competition Wednesday.

The Hearts had only two tough contests in the No. 6 singles as Dane Seiler pulled out a 7-6 (1), 7-5 victory and at No. 2 doubles when Ty Nohren and Preston Siner persevered. The pair lost the opener 6-2 but fought back with 6-3, 10-3 scores for the win.

In the other doubles match, Thad Dillow and Blayne Pals were winners, 6-2, 6-2.

In singles play, Dillow added to his win total by downing his opponent at No. 1, 6-1, 6-0. Nohren claimed the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-4 while Siner took No. 4, 6-4, 6-4. Evan Pryor was the winner at No. 5, 6-3, 6-1.

The Hearts are back in action Friday at St. Anthony in a 4 p.m. contest.

No. 2 -- Nohren-Siner (E) defeated Hatifled-Elder (R), 2-6, 6-3, 10-3

No. 3 -- Gower-Cash Veteto (R) defeated Seiler-Isaiah Rubin (E), 6-3, 6-2
