Bulldogs Claim Tennis Win, Shoes Fall To C-W

Effingham St. Anthony powered its way to a 6-3 high school tennis win over Mattoon Thursday.

The Bulldogs claimed four of the six singles matches.

At the No. 2 spot, Aiden Tegeler went three games and won the match. He took the opener 6-0 before falling 7-5 then won the contest 10-1.

Henry Kemme won 6-4, 6-4 at No.3  while Evan Mossman took No. 4, 6-4, 6-0.

Isaac McDonald had to fight through for the win. He took the opener 6-3 before Josiah Donaldson came back for the Green Wave to win 6-1. McDonald then outlasted Donaldson 11-9 for the victory.

In doubles play, Kemme and A. Tegeler combined to win the top spot. The pair fell in the opener 7-6 (5) before coming back strong for 6-3, 10-4 wins and the match.

Noah Tegeler and Bryant Mossman were winners at No. 2 and also had a tough fight. Mattoon claimeda 7-5 victory before Tegeler and Mossman were winners 7-6 (2), 10-8.

No. 4 -- Evan Mossman (SA) defeated Nik James (M), 6-4, 6-0

No. 5 -- Isaac McDonald (SA) defeated Josiah Donaldson (M), 6-3, 1-6, 11-9

No. 6 -- Ty Eastin (M) defeated Bryant Mossman (SA), 6-4, 5-1

No. 1 -- Kemme-A. Tegeler (SA) defeated Zala-Bahney (M), 6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-4

No. 2 -- N. Tegeler-Mossman (SA) defeated Ramage-Farmer (M), 5-7, 7-6 (2), 10-8

No. 3 -- James-Donaldson (M) defeated McDonald-Herzing (SA), 5-7, 6-1, 10-7

 

At Casey

Casey-Westfield edged Teutopolis, 5-4 in tennis action Thursday.

The four victories for the Wooden Shoes came with two at singles and two at doubles.

Ethan Thoele claimed the No. 3 singles spot 7-6, 6-3 while Kolton Tabbert took No. 4, 6-3, 7-6.

In doubles, Josh Habing and Tabbert were winners at No. 1. Casey-Westfield took the opener 6-4 before T-town came back with 6-3, 1-0 (7) wins for the match.

Myles Stortzum and Gus Siemer were easy winners at No. 3, 6-4, 6-2.
