St. Anthony, T-town Nab Tennis Wins, EHS Loses To Flora

CHAMPAIGN -- Teutopolis High School finished the regular tennis season with an undefeated record of 13-0 Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes downed Champaign St. Thomas More, 8-1.

T-town nabbed five of the six singles matches. Macy Probst took the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1 while Grace Hoene blanked her opponent at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0.

Isabelle Hemmen won the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-2. Carley Habing captured No. 4, 6-0, 6-1 and Olivia Hemmen went 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.

In doubles play, the Shoes swept. I. Hemmen-Probst took the top position, 6-3, 6-3.

No. 2 went to Kenna Koester and Lexi Will, 6-2, 6-3. O. Hemmen combined with Hoene to finish out at No. 3, 6-3, 6-1.

At Champaign

Singles

No. 1 -- Macy Probst (TT) defeated Ashley Mills (STM), 6-0, 6-1

No. 2 -- Grace Hoene (TT) defeated Audrey Horn (STM), 6-0, 6-0

No. 3 -- Isabelle Hemmen (TT) defeated Nora Kelley (STM), 6-2, 6-2

No. 4 -- Carley Habing (TT) defeated Kambyl Stipes (STM), 6-0, 6-1

No. 5 -- Maris Greene (STM) defeated Lexi Will (TT), 6-2, 6-3

No. 6 -- Olivia Hemmen (TT) defeated Natalia Andina-Guera (STM), 6-1, 6-0

Doubles

No. 1 -- I. Hemmen-Probst (TT) defeated Horn-Kelley (STM), 6-3, 6-3

No. 2 -- Kenna Koester-Will (TT) defeated Mills-Stipes (STM), 6-2, 6-3

No. 3 -- O. Hemmen-Hoene (TT) defeated Emma Graham-Greene (STM), 6-3, 6-1

 

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 6-3 win over Mattoon in high school tennis competition Tuesday.

The Bulldogs nabbed four of the six singles wins. Allison Kowalke opened with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1. Ali Adams won at No. 4. She fell in the opener 6-1 but came back to take the second set 6-2 and won the match 10-7.

Laura Schmidt also had a hard-fought opening set, winning 7-5 then taking the match 6-4. Peyton Sehy was a winner at No. 6, 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles, A. Kowalke and Caroline McDevitt conmbined to win easily, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1.

Emily Kowalke and Adams were also easy winners, 6-1, 6-1.

At St. Anthony

No. 6 -- Peyton Sehy (SA) defeated Haylie Hutton (M), 6-2, 6-0

At Effingham

Effingham fell to Flora, 7-2 in tennis competition Tuesday.

The Hearts claimed one singles match as Madison Mapes won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles play, Effingham's Riley Arend and Mapes combined to win, 6-4, 2-6, 10-8.
