T-town Wins St. Anthony Tennis Invitational

The Wooden Shoes tallied 33 points followed by St. Anthony 24, Effingham 21, Maroa-Forsyth 12, Mount Zion 8, Shelbyville 5, Mahomet-Seymour 4 and Charleston 3.

Grace Hoene captured the No. 1 singles title. Hoene defeated Charleston's Maggie Goeten, 6-2, 6-0 then won over Mahomet-Seymour's Amalia Fried, 6-0, 6-1. Hoene then won the title by beating Riley Arend of Effingham, 6-3, 6-7(5), 1-0 (9).

Emily Kowalke (St. Anthony) took third by beating Mahomet-Seymour's Fried, 6-1, 6-1.

In the No. 2 singles, T-town's Carly Habing was the champion. Habing opened with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Morgan Lee of Mahomet-Seymour. She then downed Eden Wendling of Effingham, 6-0, 6-2. In the title contest, Habing won over St. Anthony's Ali Adams, 6-1, 6-1.

The third place match went to Eden Wendling on a forfeit over Camryn Durbin of Shelbyville.

In the No. 3 singles bracket, St. Anthony's Laura Schmidt won the championship. Schmidt defeated Georgia Davis of Shelbyville, 6-1, 6-0 then downed Emma Fawley of Maroa-Forysth, 6-0, 6-0. In the title contest, Schmidt defeated Kenna Koester of T-town, 7-5, 6-1.

The third place contest went to Lydia Kull of Effingham over Emma Fawley of Maroa-Forsyth, 6-2, 6-1.

in doubles action at the No. 1 spot, Macy Probst and Isabelle Hemmen claimed the championship. The pair defeated Alexis Mallory-Anna Brunner of Mount Zion, 6-0, 6-0 then won over Serena Tuan-Mavis Wang of Maroa-Forsyth, 6-1, 6-2. In the title contest, the pair downed St. Anthony's Allison Kowalke and Caroline McDevitt, 6-4, 6-0.

The third place match went to Tuan-Wang (Maroa-Forsyth) over Effingham's Grace Kroenlien and Aila Woomer, 6-2, 6-0.

In the No. 2 doubles, Lexi Will and Olivia Hemmen captured the championship. The pair won their opener over Trinity Turner and Aleah Wallis of Shelbyville, 6-0, 6-0 then downed Madison Wang andRabya Hesnain of Maroa-Forsyth, 7-5, 6-3. The duo then took on Effingham's Madison Mapes and Izzy Volpi for the title. Mapes and Volpi won the opener 6-2 before Will and Hemmen came back to win 6-3, 6-4.

In the third place match, Wang and Hesnain of Maroa-Forysth downed Payton Sehy and Grace Karolewicz of St. Anthony, 6-0, 6-3.
