Shoes Claim Tennis Win, St. A, EHS Lose

Teutopolis downed Casey-Westfield 7-2 in high school girls tennis action Thursday.

The Shoes won four of the six singles matches to set the tone. Kaitlin Deters took the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-2 while Audra Breer continued her winning ways by downing her opponent 6-3, 6-1. Christa Schwinke claimed the No. 3 win, 7-5, 6-0. Sarah Thoele finished out at No. 6 with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.

T-town then swept the doubles. Schwinke and Breer won at No. 1, 6-1, 3-4 (ret). Deters and L. Hemmen took No. 2, 6-0, 6-2 while Allison Apke and Claire Hemmen finished out at the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-3.

The win gives the Shoes a 4-5 record.

Olney handed Effingham an 8-1 loss. The lone victory came at No. 3 doubles as Savannah Blake and Ashley Workman were winners, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

St. Anthony picked up one victory in an 8-1 loss to Mount Zion Thursday.

The Bulldogs' lone win came at No. 6 singles as Chloe Malone won 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

In a junior varsity contest, St. Anthony was a 7-1 winner.
