Altamont, Windsor/Stew-Stras, Teutopolis Claim Softball Wins

Altamont took a 3-0 lead in the second inning and went on to hold off St. Elmo/Brownstown for a 7-4 high school softball victory Monday.

The Indians' Grace Lemke threw a one-hitter with 16 strikeouts in the contest. She went 6.2 innings allowing one run on one hit and no walks.

St. Elmo/Brownstown pulled within 3-1 in the top of the fifth but Altamont retaliated with a three-run bottom of the frame to lead 6-1. The Eagles came back with three runs in the sixth only to fall short.

Altamont had eight hits in the contest led by Madison Tonn with two singles and three RBI, Sophia Pearcy with a double and an RBI, Claire Boehm with two singles and Cecelia Pearcy with a single and an RBI.

St. Elmo/Brownstown has two hits. Taylor Claycomb and Jayna Ireland had a single and an RBI each. Alivia Claycomb added an RBI.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg struck in the first inning, stepping out to a 4-0 opening inning lead on Neoga, and went on to end the contest in the fourth inning, 16-0 Monday.

The Hatchets finished with a whopping 20 hits iwhile Kendra Hayes picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts. Mya Friese came in to finish the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Samantha Hayes led the way in hitting with a single, double, two triples and four RBI. Erin Althoff was right there with a single, two doubles and two RBI. Alaira Friese added two singles, a double and two RBI. K. Hayes helped her own cause with three singles and three RBI. Claire Holland chipped in with two singles and M. Friese and Ellie Wittenberg added a single and an RBI each.

Joslyn Brandenburg produced both singles for the Indians.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis took charge of this game with an eight-run second and went on for a 14-0 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

The Shoes added on two runs in the third and four in the fourth and the game ended via the 10-run rule in the fifth.

Malea Helmink led the way in hitting with a single and triple. She drove in four runs. Jersey Gaddis added a double and two RBI while Kayleigh Zerrusen had a single and two RBI. Olivia Copple finished with two singles. Olivia Roley, Cecilia Apke and Alyssa Tipton had a single and drove in a run each. Chloe Hoene added an RBI.

Olivia Hemmen went five innings on the mound, allowing four hits, one walk while striking out five.

CHBC had four hits, all singles by Ryleigh Sarver, Ruby Stuckemeyer, Marissa Summers and L. Bowlin.
