Sydney Kibler and Nancy Ruholl combined to throw a one-hitter as Effingham St. Anthony High School tallied a big-scoring softball victory over North Clay/Clay City, 21-0 in four innings Thursday.

Kibler picked up the win on the mound, going two innings, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out three. Ruholl also threw two innings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and striking out two.

St. Anthony edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then had a nine-run second, a seven-run third and finished the game with four runs in the fourth.

The Bulldogs bats were banging out hits all over the place with a total of 20. Hailey Niebrugge, Maddie Kibler and Sydney Kibbler had a single and triple each. Niebrugge drove in two runs while both Kiblers had one RBI each. Ava Walton added a single, double and three RBI, Julia Schultz a single, double and two RBI, Stacie Vonderheide three singles and an RBI, Lily Gannaway added two singles and an RBI, Abbie Hatton a single and two RBI, Ady Rios a single and an RBI and Addie Wernsing a double.

North Clay/Clay City's lone hit was a single by Faith Jones.

At Effingham

At Altamont

Grace Lemke owned the mound Thursday as  Altamont handed Greenville a 4-1 loss.

Lemke went all seven innings, allowing only one run on one hit and one walk. The big statistic came as Lemke struck out 19 batters in the contest.

Meanwhile, Altamont moved into a 2-0 lead in the second inning and tacked on two more in the fourth.

Lemke also owned the batter's box as she hit a single, double and drove in three of the team''s four runs. Sophia Pearcy added a single and double and Madison Tonn a single and an RBI.

Green's lone hit was a single by Haylee Clark..

At Arthur

Cumberland edged out to a 2-0 lead on Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond and ended up finishing the contest in five innings via the 10-run rule, 16-5 Thursday.

The Pirates tallied 12 hits led by Ashton Tolen with three singles, Noraa Cross with two singles and three RBI, Libby McGinnis and Avery Donsbach with two singles and two RBI each and Jade Carr with two singles and an RBI.

Aubrey Himes was the winning pitcher, going 3.3 innings, allowing two hits, three walks while striking out four. Holsapple came on to finish out the 1.1 innings allowng no hits and no walks.

At Arthur

At Casey

Effingham took a 1-0 lead in the third inning before Casey-Westfield came back to move ahead 3-1 in the fourth. The Hearts tied the top of the fifth. Casey-Westfield moved ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth.

The Hearts then tied the score again in the top of the seventh sending the game into extra innings. But Casey-Westfield scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth for a 5-4 victory.

The Warriors had 11 hits but committed four errors.

The Hearts had eight hits led by Sidney Donaldson who went three for four at the plate. She finished with a single, two doubles and drove in three runs. Jerzi Bierman added four singles and Raegan Boone the other single.

Casey-Westfield had 11 hits led by Anna Karras with two singles and two RBI, Ava Goble and Kam Smith with two singles and an RBI each and Megan Cribelar with two singles.

Goble was the winning pitcher, going all eight innings, allowing four runs on eight hits, one walk while striking out five.

At Casey

At Charleston

Teutopolis made the game interesting but fell to Charleston by a 3-2 count Thursday.

The Trojans tallied a run in the fourth and held a 3-0 lead in the sixth.

T-town then mounted a comeback in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs, only to fall short.

The Wooden Shoes had four hits led by Olivia Wermert with two doubles and two RBI and Olivia Hemmen with a double.

Despite pitching a good contest, Alyssa Tipton suffered the loss on the mound. She went all six innings, allowing three runs on six hits, two walks and finished with 12 strikeouts.

At Charleston
